Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps Storage Chelsea has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Storage Chelsea recognises its responsibility to uphold human rights and is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Chelsea maintains a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. This commitment applies to every aspect of our activities, including our own operations, our workforce, and our relationships with suppliers, contractors, and business partners.
All colleagues, regardless of role or seniority, are required to comply with this policy and to support its implementation. Any breach of this policy by an employee may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Where suppliers or other third parties are found to be in breach, Storage Chelsea will take appropriate steps which may include suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Our Supply Chains and Due Diligence
Storage Chelsea works with a range of suppliers that provide goods and services including building maintenance, security, cleaning, packaging materials, technology, and professional services. We recognise that some sectors and geographies carry a higher risk of modern slavery and we aim to focus enhanced scrutiny on these areas.
We conduct due diligence on new suppliers prior to onboarding and periodically review existing suppliers. As part of this process, we seek to understand their policies, governance, and controls around labour standards, working conditions, and human rights. Where appropriate, we request information about their own supply chains to ensure that our standards are upheld throughout the chain of supply.
Supplier Audits and Controls
Storage Chelsea is committed to monitoring and improving the effectiveness of our anti-slavery measures. We undertake supplier assessments that may include questionnaires, requests for policy documentation, and where proportionate, site visits or audits. These reviews are designed to identify potential risks of modern slavery, confirm compliance with legal and ethical standards, and promote continuous improvement.
Where concerns are identified, we expect suppliers to implement corrective actions within clear timeframes. We may require evidence of remedial steps and, where necessary, follow up with additional reviews. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to address identified issues, we will consider ending the relationship in line with our zero-tolerance stance.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
Storage Chelsea encourages all employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery, human trafficking, or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised confidentially through established internal reporting channels, including escalation to management or appropriate designated contacts within Storage Chelsea.
We will take all reports seriously, investigate them promptly and fairly, and take appropriate action where issues are substantiated. We are committed to ensuring that no person raising a genuine concern in good faith will suffer any form of retaliation, victimisation, or disadvantage as a result of speaking up.
Training and Awareness
To support our zero-tolerance approach, Storage Chelsea provides relevant staff with information and guidance on recognising the signs of modern slavery and how to respond to concerns. We seek to build awareness among employees and key suppliers so that they understand the risks, our expectations, and the mechanisms available for raising issues.
Monitoring, Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with the senior management of Storage Chelsea. They review the effectiveness of our policies, controls, and supplier oversight on a regular basis. We aim to enhance our processes over time, drawing on evolving best practice, legal developments, and feedback from stakeholders.
This Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains accurate, relevant, and reflective of the actions taken by Storage Chelsea to prevent modern slavery in our operations and supply chains. Updated versions of this Statement are approved by senior management and made available publicly to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to combating modern slavery and human trafficking.
